non-fiction: inventions, sports, food, customs. The reading level is for 4-8 years, but it would be a read-to for most of the youngest in that range, most say more like grade 2-5. I'd have to agree. There are so many places to go for more detail, but this is a reasonable book to start.

This is a great book for teaching children all about China. It has good pictures, some chinese words, and a list of other good resources for learning about China.
