Comments about Early Start Mandarin Chinese with Bao Bei the Panda #5:
I was a little disappointed when I watched the DVD with my girls for it's first view. I thought the DVD would be in all Chinese, not mostly English, and only vocabulary and short phrases in Chinese. I'm a native speaker and have struggled to find good contents that's in all Mandarin and I thought this was going to be it.
It is produced in decent quality and has varied content. My girls do like it a lot so that's what counts.
The customer service of this site deserves a 5 star though! The DVD I got had some audio/visual mismatch toward the end and Ray took care of it right away and we got a replacement DVD in a few days.

Comments about Early Start Mandarin Chinese with Bao Bei the Panda #5:
I really liked this sports dvd (vs the Mandy and Pandy sports book and cd which had basketball, baseball... games a toddler doesnt play) since it has kids playing sports... little kids falling on their butt skating (my 3 yr old was delighted), Bei Bao decked out for swimming etc. The sports are shown in situ (complete with echoey swimming pool) adding interest and realism. I love the closeups of the mouth for pronunciation, the repetition just enough for learning, the puppet engaging in sports. I do wish they showed the words in chinese characters as well as pinyin though in this series. Besides that, this is highly recommended. Lots of vocabulary, sentences as well as single words. Holds children's and adults' interest.

My children really enjoy all the Bao Bei the Panda DVDs. They use the words they learn from the DVD all the time!

Comments about Early Start Mandarin Chinese with Bao Bei the Panda #5:
I like this DVD. I think it is very suitable for young children. The words are simple and repeated by the kids just enough. I also like that they show the mouth up close as the word is repeated. At first I found this odd, but a little later I thought it is actually very useful for those who want to imitate the sound. The words are also spelled out in big subtitles. It also takes up lessons tackled in the other DVDs. Kids get a review without knowing it. I think the content and pacing of the lesson is just right for young children and beginners. I highly recommend this DVD for the children!

Comments about Early Start Mandarin Chinese with Bao Bei the Panda #5:
I bought this without buying the earlier versions simply because of the topic of sports. My kids( 5 and 3 yer old) are crasy about sports esp after the Beijing olympics. Thus i thought this might stimulate their interest. Most sports covered are USA-type i.e swimming, gymnatics ,ice hockey. You get video clips of children( chinese and non-chinese) speaking in both english and mandarin with the panda puppet. My kids seem to enjoy them but being a native speaker, I ( being quite picky about accuracy) find some of the kids miss-prouncing some of the words but otherwise it is entertaining, and engaging. I would still recommend it if your kids are into sports as i don't think there is other chinese children dvd out there of this theme.
