Interesting and informative, many threads

Comments about Fortune Cookie Chronicles - Adventures in the World of Chinese Food by Jennifer Lee:

I expected more thoughts about integrating and combining cultures from her spective, an American Born Chinese. I tended to get a little lost in the individual threads she was following from one chapter to the next. I thought each one would provide some sort of clue in the overall quest of the main forutne cookie plot., but that wasn't true as it was starting or following another thread. Maybe I'm too sleep deprived, but it was hard to juggle fotune cookie, best restaurant, General Tso's chicken, immigration to various countries, take-out containers, etc. That said, it was eye-opening for me and very interesting and informative regarding Chinese immigration to all over the world, Chinese restaurants in the U.S., and all of these assorted threads. I had no idea about many of them. I agree that it was well-researched and all the loose ends were tied up. So not what I expected, but very interesting. I'll keep it as a resource, but probably won't read it over and over cover to cover.

Great book that is amusing and informative. You can tell it's well researched and full of history in the US of Chinese and how this has influenced what we know as Chinese Food.
