I love these flashcards for myself, as well as for the kids that I teach Mandarin, too. They are perfectly sized for a small class and to prop on my cycle bar so I can exercise my brain and my body. These cards are the cheapest around and they have color and for the most part, is self-explanatory. There is pin-yin on the picture side which you can use to look up the english meaning, if need be. The characters are nice and big on one side and picture with pinyin on the other.

I'm an adult trying to learn Mandarin. Frustrated over the lack of adult language learning schools, and the expense of private tutors, I picked up the Kuaile Hanyu Textbook. It is a great learning tool especially when used with the DVD. The textbook reviews what you have learned, and I love the writing exercises. Get the DVD, it's fun, educational, and a must for pronunciation.

I have almost completed Book 1 and am amazed at the number of words I can understand, read and even write the characters. This system builds upon itself and you are soon able to structure full sentences and engage in conversation. The CD-Rom is easy to use, and while the graphics are very high tech, the games and pronounciations are very helpful. Also, I enjoy using the flash cards to reinforce what I have learned. I'll never forget the moment I was able to read an entire page of characters!!

I have been teaching middle school Chinese to American students for about 5 years. SO far, in my opinion, Kuai Le Han Yu is the best teaching material available for the group that I teach. The Text book, flash cards,audio CD, and the CD Rom work together can provide students a interesting, engaging and comprehensible Chinese learning experience.
The only thing I would like to suggest to the publisher is that besides the exercise that is provided in the textbook, it will be helpful if they could provide a separate workbook with more practices that can be used for students' homework.

I use this textbok in an education co-op to teach 9-13 yr olds Chinese and an entire family Chinese plus my own child. So far it is the best thing I have used. It is an integrated program and works on reading,speaking,AND writing Chinese. I HIGHLY recommend the CD-ROM to reinforce the concepts and characters. Yes, it is worth the extra money to get. The CD that goes with this book is very valuable in helping with pronounciation if you are not a native speaker of Chinese helping your child. The kids at the age also love to practice writing Chinese characters. This book introduces just the right amount of characters per chapter. . The romanization is introduced gradually in Level One and has been very simple to learn. This year my students who used Kuaile Hanyu to learn are more confident pinyin readers than those who used Nihao. In addition I love how the book is set up in short sections so you can work at your own pace but still have a feeling of accomplishment. A review of grammar patterns in included after each unit. I also like how the book integrates writing practice. The kids get lots of chances to practice writing and that really makes them feel like they are learning something and really smart!
