Comments about Teach Me Chinese! - CDL001 CD and Book:
Wow! In this day and age of digital editing, I can't believe that the singer was allowed to get away with singing the songs wrong! She cannot follow the accompaniment!
Ok, the good things first:
I lOVE the idea of having a story linking the songs together. I also LOVE that the Mandarin versions of the songs pretty much translate to the English versions. The selections of songs are ones that most people know and love.
What I absolutely cannot stand is how the singer cannot sing together with the piano accompaniment! She is often early or late. The worst song is the Mandarin version of "If You're Happy And You Know it" and "The More we get together". When she sings the Mandarin version of the songs, she tries to fit not enough syllables into the original English song and then ends earlier than the piano, so that it changes the entire tune and makes it sound so horrible! I want my daughter to learn Mandarin, but not at the expense of being unmusical!
Another thing that bothered me: why not provide the Chinese characters for the song in the book? Right now, there is only pinyin.
I wish they would fix these things because concept is great!

Comments about Teach Me Chinese! - CDL001 CD and Book:
I was born in China and left when I was 12 years old. Now I have two little ones with my not Chinese husband, I found it hard to teach them Chinese when I can barely speak the language myself now.
The book was well designed with cute pictures. The CD had clear and good volume control (does not get louder on some songs). My almost 3 years old liked it from start and after 2 days she can almost sing the first Chinese song.
I found it very refreshing on my first language and enjoying the set with my daughter.
One thing I would like to suggest is we don't know when to turn the page.

Comments about Teach Me Chinese! - CDL001 CD and Book:
I prefer the singing and quality of the singing/arrangement on this to "Sing 'N' Learn Chinese". I think this is also a little easier for English speakers to approach. You can learn a surprising amount, although I do wish it also had a literal translation. That would make it a gem.

An excellent CD of popular English songs sung in Mandarin and English. In the back of the book, the songs are also translated in English. My kids love it.
